FAQ

Do I need an appointment to visit WorkFit Medical?

Appointments are required for all physicals, non urgent workers’ compensation injuries or those 7 day or older, and follow up visits. All other services (drug screens, PPDs, vaccinations, respirator testing, etc.) can be accommodated on a first come, first serve walk-in basis during regular business hours.

Who will provide medical care?

At WorkFit Medical, we staff our clinics with physicians and advanced practice professionals who go through Occupational Medicine training to ensure quality care and knowledge. Based on extensive occupational and regulatory expertise, our clinicians confidently determine the best treatment plan and regulatory-based exams necessary for our patients. All of our providers (physicians, physician associates, nurse practitioners, nurses, and radiological technicians) are dedicated to providing exceptional medical care in an empathetic, respectful manner.

How long does it take for an employer to receive drug screen results?

On average, results are typically available within 48-72 for lab-based collections. We do now offer computerized rapid testing where results are available within 2 hours if the test is instantly negative (i.e., no prescriptions, not dilute). However, per regulations, donors have up to 10 business days to respond to the MRO (medical review officer) questions – the longer the donor waits to speak to the MRO, the longer the results will be delayed.

When can I drug test my employees?

You can drug test your employees for any of the following reasons:

  • Pre-Employment
  • Post-Accident
  • Reasonable Suspicion
  • Random Testing
  • Per your company policies

How often do employers have to get physicals for their DOT drivers?

If the results of the exam are completely normal, the DOT certificate is good for two years, therefore an exam is only required once every two years. However, if any medical conditions are involved, DOT exams may be required in less than two years (i.e., once every six months).

What is the process for starting to send employees/potential employees in for services?

First, please fill out the new account form and send it to [email protected]; once they have confirmed that you’ve been set up in the system, you will use an authorization form for every employee/potential employee. You will mark the services you need, and you can either send it ahead of time to Rochester: [email protected] or Albany: [email protected], or, you can print it out for the employee to bring in with them at the time of visit. If the services include a physical, please call ahead to make an appointment.
